Residents
Expect a VCAT decision on St. Andrews this Friday.
Council officers received a letter yesterday which said:
"Thank you for your letter of 10 July 2008.
I advise that a decision is expected to handed down on or about 18 July 2008.
Regards
Mark O'Reilly
Administrative Registry, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal"
VCAT has spent an inordinate amount of time on the St. Andrews Kindergarten decision. They have to decide whether or not they support Yarra Council's view that the kindy should be relocated to Walker St, Clifton Hill.
This view is supported by the vast majority of Clifton Hill families who are in desperate need of childrens services and is opposed by a group of objectors with various motives.
The delay has put a great strain on the kindy community who are currently on the Gold St site with a (Anglican Church) landlord who wants them out.
When decisions concern supermarkets and the like, VCAT can be relatively quick - a kindy seems way down on their priority list.
Watch this space, full report on decision from this blog on Friday.
