A mass meeting of workers, outside the Port Melbourne Boeing plant, voted to go back to work today after nearly three weeks on strike. As reported previously, Boeing management had provoked this dispute after the unfair dismissal of a worker.

The Maoists won a spectacular victory in the Nepalese elections. In a shock for regional and global powers, the Prime Minister as well as ministers of Finance, Defence and the Interior, will now belong to the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists) who received over a third of the votes.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who was killed on April 4, 1968 while supporting striking Memphis sanitation workers. Unfortunately, the official commemorations of King often provide us with a sanitized version of his life and legacy and the history of the civil rights movement.
