450 workers of Tadiran Kesher in Israel have been on strike since 11 November. They are demanding the continuation of the collective contract, which they won after a militant struggle in the 1990?s, after the transfer of ownership of the factory to the company Elbit, that bought it and is notorious for it?s policy against workers? orgnisations.

LAST SATURDAY in Ghent, Belgium, over 700 people including the LSP/MAS (CWI, Belgium) and the anti-fascist youth organisation Blokbuster, marched to protest against the far-right Valaams Belang (formerly Vlaams Blok) conference being held in the city.

Report on vote for new Mayor for Yarra City Council (Melbourne), by SP Cllr Stephen Jolly.
The Ceremonial meeting of Council was held last night. Councillors, some of whom can be pretty quiet all year over issues affecting residents, were scuttling around like people possessed in the run-up to the vote, many keen to get their noses in the bucket of the perks and prestige of Mayor or Chairs of Committees.
