The end August 30% rise in Nigerian fuel prices has provoked a renewed outburst of mass anger in Africa?s most populous country.
Officially the Nigerian Government allowed this increase because the world price of oil has risen. But this argument has not cut much ice in Nigeria. Nigerians obviously know that they live in a major oil producing country and that, irrespective of the world price, the cost of actually extracting oil from the ground has not jumped this year.

Manufacturing workers at Kozma Industries in Melbourne’s northern suburbs have returned to work after picketing their workplace for 4 days. The picket was set up at 7am Friday morning after the boss had told the workers that he was planning to close the factory at the end of the year.

The prisoner spent several days naked in a dark room. Each day, his captors would come and beat him, sometimes until he lost consciousness. They spit on him and made him bark like a dog. One day, they tied his hands to the door and made him lie on his stomach while they jumped on his back and legs. One soldier peed on him and sodomized him with a broomstick while the others laughed and took pictures.
