The May 2005 budget is another salvo in the class war that Howard and the Liberals say
does not exist. After several years of economic upturn and with a Senate that blocked the Liberals full proposed agenda, this is a budget for a new era. The Liberals are now getting ready for a full scale ripping into the guts of the working class. The budget is designed to get the most out of the working class now and also as a preparation for laying the burden of any economic downturn of the bosses system squarely onto the working class.

Growing inter-imperialist tensions between China and the European Union

Last Tuesday’s Council meeting saw up to 100 local residents attend in another example of the growing grassroots democracy coming back to Richmond Town Hall after years of Kennettism and the aftereffects of Kennettism. A small taste of the bigger mobilisation to come in the June meeting came with 4 children and four adults attending on the child care crisis, especially for 0-3 year olds. (more…)

Police attack CWI and other left activists at Tel Aviv May Day rally.
The biggest May Day demonstration in Israel took place in Tel Aviv. It was officially organised by the Histadruth (the Israeli TUC), but very few workers attended an event which its organisers wanted to be a festival of Zionist youth movements.
