Malaysian socialist to visit Melbourne

Malaysia’s main leftwing party, the PSM (Socialist Party of Malaysia) has announced who are they are sending to this weekends SP’s summer school in Melbourne. It is Comrade V.Selvam, a Central Committee member and founder member of Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM), one of their 4 election candidates in the last election.

He has been arrested a record 18 times for various reasons including illegal assembly, rioting etc. He is also a council member of Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC), the largest union in Malaysia.

He has also vast experience in organising the workers/trade unions and the urban poor community. Selvam obtained the highest vote in party’s election last year. He managed to get an adjornment for a major case which was due on the 9th February, and therefore can attend the summer school.
