A Big Day Out
Taken from the latest newsletter of the Electrical Trades Union.
The December edition of the ETU News featured Clinton Jennings from Unite, an organisation devoted to the rights of young casual workers. Unite will have a stall at the Big Day Out on Sunday 29 January at Princes Park (Melbourne), with the aim of letting young workers know what their rights are.
The Unite stall will have a “dob in your dodgy boss” box where young casual workers can let Unite know how they are being treated at work. They will also be handing out literature explaining the pitfalls of AWAs and encouraging people to join their union.
Along with Unite, The Young Unionists Network will also be in attendance at the Big Day Out. YUN is looking for young organisers, delegates and workers who can assist with the distribution of the flyers, 20,000 Fight for Your Right to Party flyers, in fact. Volunteers will only be required to assist from between 10:00-14:00. The exact location of the main distribution point is yet to be confirmed, however it will be near the corner of Cemetery Park Rd and Royal Parade, Parkville . Call YUN on 0402 434 811 for details.
