Questions from SP to Yarra Mayoral candidates
Dear Councillors,
SP Councillor Stephen Jolly met with party colleagues last night and discussed various Yarra Council issues. It was agreed that the following questions be put to potential candidates for Mayor to help illuminate the decision around next year’s Mayor.
It seems there could be up to 6 candidates for the position of Yarra Mayor for 2006, with only Cllrs D’Agastino, Mayor Meadows and Stephen ruling themselves out. Could candidates please respond to the following
questions by next Wednesday 6pm.
1. What do you see as the key issue/s facing Yarra residents and how will you address these?
2. If elected, would you do the Mayor’s job fulltime?
3. What are the main issues affecting public housing tenants in 2006 and what do you intend to do about it?
4. What do you think needs to be done to improve the planning department at Yarra, if indeed you see a problem?
5. Do you think Yarra needs an indoor sports center and, if so, what would you do to campaign for it in 2006?
6. What are your main goals for the 2006/07 budget?
7. If the Planning Minister approves the Banco development with height and other limits beyond those recommended by the draft structure plan, what will you do?
Regards,
Stephen Jolly and Socialist Party members in Yarra
