UNITE: Your minimum rights as a casual
Many casual workers don’t know they have some basic minimum legal rights. Your basic six legal rights if you work casual or part-time are as follows:
1 Superannuation every week if you earn over $450
gross per month
2 The right to a safe workplace as defined in the
1985 OHS Act
3 Right to go permanent after a set period as a casual (varies from industry to industry)
4 Your right to receive the Award wage plus casual loading
5 Your right to join a trade union
6 Your right to a pay slip
