Socialist Party members from Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney will be targeting the APEC summit on Friday September 7th and Saturday September 8th.

The Socialist Party will be attending the main demonstration on the Saturday which will meet at the Sydney Town Hall. SP members are also discussing plans to work with others to cause disruption to the summit proceedings on Friday.

Yesterday in the Supreme Court the Socialist Party was named as one of the groups that will be attending the main rally. This was used by the police as an argument as to why the court should refuse permission for the rally to go ahead.

SP National Organiser, Anthony Main said today “We condemn the NSW police for linking the Socialist Party to threats of violence. This is nothing more than unfounded scare mongering and an attempt to undermine civil rights”
